Terrorism

Terrorism is, and has been, an issue around the world in the past decade. Recently there has been a debate about the safety of traveling to countries across Seas because there have been many threats about bombing and terrorism. How do you feel about this situation? Would you feel comfortable about traveling to other countries? Why, or why not?

  1. I think we should help other countries increase their saftey at air ports

  2. Terrorism has stricken many people with fears so great that they do not wish to go to any country over seas. Many threats include Al-Qaeda, the Nigerian pirates, and many other groups. I, for one do not fear them, but I would prefer to ride in the air instead across sea.

  3. As an American I feel it is safe not to travel across Europe. I say this because many countries do not have the same rules as us and if we were held hostage they may be able to do cruel or unusal punishment. Not saying that traveling is bad out of the state but you should be very careful and watch your surronding in other countries.

  4. Yes because you can get bombed coming from anywhere, not just specific parts of the country.

  5. Well, I am not sure how I feel. I think I would feel okay traveling to Europe since I did come back from there about two years ago. The fact that they are increasing airport safety makes me feel better. There still would be some anxiety while on the plane until landing safely in my destination.

  6. i wouldnt feel safe traveling because i dont want to take a chance of my plane getting bombed and all of us dying but i also think that people can bomb a plane anywhere so there always pros and cons

  7. Maybe you guys don't understand the assignment. There are suppossed to be thought out statements. You should be having discussions that are detailed and lengthy. If you can't continue with the topic then someone should start a new thread. The objective is to have a silent debate. You should learn something from each other.

  8. @Yung, I think what he is trying to say is terrorism doesn't scare him because if its going to happen, nothing is going to stop it.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I think that if you enforce make people to watch out for bombs then no planes will get bombed.

    ReplyDelete
  10. @ Tatylor'd, But you can always stop something if you prevent it from happening.

    ReplyDelete
  11. But terrorist have learned to get through even the tightest security. For instance, they can put bombs into printer cartridges now.

  12. Terrorist are very tricky. Some disguize themselves very well, so it is very difficult to pick them out sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yeah, I agree with Chris. It's not an easy task to stop these people.

  14. Okay this is better but where is the proof? For example Bre... you said other countries don't have the same rules... Example? There are plenty of examples and you have the internet... find them. Find an example where a US Citizen was held hostage...

  15. @Yung, So how safe can you possibly get when if they try hard enough, they CAN succeed.

  16. @Yung Dollaz
No, I am not. Now I also never have encountered a terrorist up close to personal.

  17. There has been an increase in terrorism in the last decade, but I still would'nt hesitate to travel to another country because the odds of you actually being on a plane with a bomb, are very slim.

    ReplyDelete
  18. That only happened because they said that people don't think about checking cargo planes because they store things that make money for the company.

  19. Yung Dollaz: i dont think that you can 100% prevent something from happing

  21. I would feel comfortable traveling to other countries if there was not any threats about bombing planes and things like that. I think that people should either stop traveling or something should be done about the terrorists. Better searches should be conducted at airports.

  22. @Keron M
Absolutely! Currently "excessive" security measures are placed upon every airport within our country, now the true problem is when you are getting back to America what are the odds?

    ReplyDelete
  23. I believe Bush has a lot to do with so many terrorists after America.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'm not saying prevent it 100%, I'm saying make it harder for them to get aboard with a bomb.

    ReplyDelete
  25. @Yung, forget cargo planes, the terrorist are bold enough to put bombs on passenger planes. Is it going to stop everyone from taking airplanes? I highly doubt that.

  27. @Chris, that is an extremely valid point. You have to come back sometime right?

    ReplyDelete
  28. You kind of right Chris, because you always hear about a bombing when coming back to America.

    ReplyDelete
  29. @ Chris, the only reason terrorist are able to sneak bombs onto printers. Is becuase CARGO plane security isn't as tight as commercial. We reacted to previous terrorist attempts to commercial airliners, and tightened up security to prevent those kind of attacks. Now because of this incident on a CARGO plane, they will tighten up CARGO plane security.

  31. How Kel? How? If you make a comment, as such, just like anything else you better be able to explain it... and back it up! So explain that to me...

  32. @~Nakiel~
Bush? Terrorism dates back far before Bush. Bush is responsible for causing an unnecessary war because a unprovoked attack.

    (Had to repost.)

  33. It's not just what happens on airplanes and what kind of security they have. It also has to do with when you actually get over into the other country and the threats that terrorist are making in that country while you are already there like Breona said. On CNN student news some weeks ago they spoke about how if your overseas in a country such as Paris then you may be at risks of a terrorist attack.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Cargo planes were the least suspected planes of carrying bombs, because out of all these years there was never any bomb plot dealing with general items, like a printer besides with the underwear bomb

    ReplyDelete
  35. Well, for example, with 9/11. No one ever thought anyone would fly planes into the Twin Towers. The terrorists took over the plane and held the people hostage. Many, many people died that day and since that has happened the government has definitely stepped up in security to keep it from happening again.

    ReplyDelete
  36. They were just trying to get those bombs into America. What could they have done if they were successful?

    ReplyDelete
  37. @Keron M
We have pirates boarding allies' ships and sneaking in, we have conspirators in America right now waiting for the perfect time. Now this cargo plane mess was only a mere chance, terrorists sneaking in bombs through every single type of transportation!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Logan, but it can always happen again if terroist fly a plane from a different country.

    ReplyDelete
  39. @Keron. Why not tighten up all security everywhere. Why just specific types of items. Like you said tighten up cargo plane security and commercial plane security but why not all plane security.

    ReplyDelete
  40. @Taylor'd
We probably wouldn't be typing right now.

    ReplyDelete
  41. @Logan, before 9/11 you could get across the border without a passport if you lived in America. Now they are not joking around at all.

    ReplyDelete
  42. @ Mrs. A, I don't know exactly how many planes take off from a single major airport, but one can infer that over tens of thousands of airplanes take of from multiple airports each DAY. To answer your question about the odds, how often and how many terrorist attacks do you here about in a MONTH.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Keith, you keep talking about tightening up security. I'm pretty sure they are doing the best they can with the technology they have. They already have the little machines that let them see through people's clothes, what more do you want?

    ReplyDelete
  44. You are kind of forgetting that people own individual airplanes and can always run into American places.

    ReplyDelete
  45. @Logan, I think you mean x-ray machines.

    ReplyDelete
  46. @ just be quiet, and don't reply to my sophisticated comments lol. They are out of your league.

    ReplyDelete
  47. i think that if we tighten up plane security then there will be other way that they can bomb us
i dont think there can be a stop to it

    ReplyDelete
  48. @ Keron M
Everyone has their own actions and can respond to anything they choose.

    ReplyDelete
  49. @ Logan, I don't know. I'm not a sophisticated computer geek or something. I know that there doing the best they can but that doesn't mean you just stop talking about do better do better. If you stop talking about do better then they'll probably think they're doing ok, when they're not performing at the top of their level.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Keith, they are performing the best they can because they don't want another 911

    ReplyDelete
  51. @ Chris H, I meant to address that to Keith. Look what he said to me.
